How to Replace Lead Acid Emergency Driver
When replacing a lead acid emergency driver, be sure to match battery specifications to those of the original unit (voltage, capacity, physical dimensions). Incorrect batteries can damage the fixture or reduce runtime. Also, remember that the batteries in emergency light systems contain hazardous materials and must be recycled properly, rather than tossed in regular trash.
LED Emergency Backup Drivers
LED emergency backup drivers supply regulated backup power for up to 90 minutes during a loss of main power. They monitor the power line for disruptions and automatically switch to battery operation when needed, and they’re designed to power LED fixtures in both normal and emergency mode. These backup drivers can be used with existing LED fixtures, or they can be installed in new fixture constructions to provide integrated solutions. They can be mounted in recessed or surface mount locations, and they’re available in various wattage constant power platforms to suit the requirements of many commercial lighting applications. Additionally, some models are damp- or wet-listed for use in wet locations and showers. They can be wired directly to the fixture input wires, or they’re offered in 2-piece kits for field installation where only the input wires are accessible.
